Sewage treatment

Sewage treatment plants for buildings and townships

An STP treats sewage from toilets, kitchens and bathrooms so it can be safely discharged, or reused for flushing, gardening and cooling.

Overview

What it is

Large residential projects, hotels, hospitals, campuses and factories often need their own STP. A well-designed plant runs quietly, doesn't smell, and gives you treated water that cuts your fresh water bill.

We choose the technology for your flow and your space. MBBR and SBR are compact and efficient and suit most sites; the load and the quality you need for reuse decide the rest.

The treatment train

Inside an STP

  1. Screening

Bar screens remove solids, and an equalisation tank evens out the flow through the day.

  2. Biological

Aeration feeds microorganisms that break down the organic load, in an MBBR, SBR or activated sludge system.

  3. Settling

Clarifiers or tube settlers separate the treated water from the sludge.

  4. Filtration

Sand and carbon filters, then disinfection, make the water fit for reuse.

Questions

What buyers ask us

Which STP technology is best?

There's no single best. MBBR is compact and handles changing loads well, SBR suits sites with variable flow, and activated sludge suits larger plants. We recommend one after looking at your load and space.

Will the STP smell?

A properly designed and maintained STP shouldn't be a nuisance. Good aeration, covered tanks and regular maintenance keep it that way.
